In 2021, I joined Wisboo, a technology and education startup dedicated to enabling digital creators, businesses, institutes, and others to create and sell digital businesses, courses, digital products, downloads, events, and more. Taking on the role of leader of the design department, I faced the challenge of establishing the company's graphic foundations, which until then consisted only of a logo and a primary color. My goal was to thoroughly develop the graphic and conceptual search for the brand. This included creating their brand manual, completely redesigning their website, and subsequently developing it on Webflow.

I started by leading a single designer until it grew into a diverse team of talent that I formed and directed, comprising 4 designers, 2 copywriters, and 2 animators/video editors. Together, we successfully created a coherent and attractive visual identity that has been crucial to Wisboo's growth and success in the competitive digital market.

From senior designer to lead designer of the department

When I joined Wisboo, the company only had a logo and a color palette. My task was to transform these basic elements into a complete and coherent visual identity in line with the growing needs and to guide a team of designers in developing projects with a metric impact, improvements for our users with a human approach, and internal benefits to decrease times in developing parts.

01

Lead the design department in its expansion and improvement of quality and graphic delivery.

02

Official Website Redesign

The challenge of redesigning the Wisboo website, the company's main showcase to the world, involved creating +10 detailed pages, covering everything from product and service offerings to team presentation, company, education for users, and events. This project was carried out alongside the marketing team, ensuring optimal positioning and a consistent, attractive user experience.

Initiatives as Team Leader

INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Team’s home

One of the key initiatives I implemented at Wisboo was the creation of a centralized space in Notion for the design department. This space gathers and organizes all important documents and files, facilitating quick access to crucial information. It also includes sections for sharing updates and relevant material, promoting a collaborative and efficient environment. This significantly improved team organization and communication.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

Learning Day 🎓

This initiative, approved by the head and the company, aimed to reserve 3 hours monthly for training and learning. Each month, the theme varies, covering topics from global issues for the entire Content team to specific areas or individual focuses. This space is used to develop soft skills, specific techniques, and acquire tools that promote individual and departmental growth. Detailed information about the theme is provided in advance of the event. "Learning Day" not only fosters continuous learning but also allows the team to apply what they've learned in their roles, thereby improving performance and collaboration.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

The Triumph Sphere 👑

A weekly wrap-up space where the entire team gathers to close tasks, set goals for the next week, and connect with each other. The meeting starts with an icebreaker, followed by important work updates, a weekly balance of each member and their tasks, planning for the next week, and ends with a team-building activity. This format not only enhances team communication and coordination but also strengthens our relationships and fosters a collaborative and motivating work environment. I also developed training meetings for the team: Implementation and use of the OKR method for departmental objectives, How to conduct effective meetings, among others.
individual contributions

Traveling for Learning

Another standout initiative was requesting approval from the Creative Hub head and Human Resources for the entire team to attend Trimarchi 2022 in Mar del Plata. This event, bringing together design students and professionals with local, national, and international speakers, offered company-paid days off and tickets, fostering professional development and team inspiration. Attending Trimarchi not only enriched our creative perspectives but also strengthened team cohesion, driving our innovation and collaboration forward.
INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Colaborative Design with Figma

I implemented comprehensive training in Figma to foster collaborative design within the team and make Figma the preferred tool for project execution. Through detailed training sessions, each member acquired advanced skills in the tool, enabling greater real-time collaboration and more effective control over the graphical elements used in our projects. This initiative not only improved our operational efficiency but also promoted a more cohesive and creative work environment, allowing us to explore new possibilities and optimize our design workflows.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

Connecting Remotely

I proposed establishing spaces for relaxation, design jams, and team-building activities to reinforce our sense of humanity and connection, especially as a remote team. These events not only allowed us to explore new applications and technologies but also facilitated an environment conducive to creativity, idea exchange, and strengthening our team bonds.

Design department management

Task management board, project rating, and time measurement

The implementation of Trello as the primary tool to organize the design team's projects was crucial. It improved the way requests were handled and the fields of information that needed to be completed. This system contributed to achieving the department's objectives and facilitated the management of internal requests more efficiently.

Development and results

1. Projects organization
• Board Structuring
• Task Management
2. Requests guide
• Development of a request guide accessible enabling every Wisboo worker to submit their requests in an organized manner.
• Detailed instructions on providing necessary information in each request, ensuring all requests were complete and well-organized.
3. Delivery and Evaluation Methodology ⭐️
• Implementation of a methodology where once a designer completed a request, it was delivered and reviewed.
• Evaluation system to rate deliveries, providing constructive feedback and ensuring work quality.

Project Management with OKRs and NCTs Methodology

Proactive setup of boards and guides where project ideation is documented: Who leads, Who supports, Which departments participate, Project timelines in Ideation, Development, Past due date, and Closure stages. Also includes a subsequent review stage for impact analysis through metrics, feedback, and/or potential improvements.

Development and results

1. Prioritization of projects: Company Aligned, Nice to Have, Internal Benefit ⭐️
2. Weekly status update
3. Quarterly Close with Progress & Roadblocks, Wins, Misses, and Key Learnings
• The quarterly close includes a comprehensive assessment of project progress, highlighting achievements and obstacles faced. Additionally, it identifies unmet objectives with a detailed analysis of underlying causes. This process concludes with the collection of key learnings, crucial for improving the planning and execution of future projects.
